Courtwood Inn’s Irish Soda Bread

This is a very easy side to make with a brunch entree. We love toasted slices with a little butter on them.


Servings: 6

1 3/4 c. flour

2/3 c. sugar

1 tsp. baking powder

½ t. baking soda

1/3 c. dried cranberries or other dried fruit

1/3 c. chopped walnuts

1/3 c. melted butter

2/3 c. buttermilk


Mix the first 6 ingredients together in a large bowl. Then add the melted butter and buttermilk.  The dough will be soft and a bit sticky.  Make a mound of the dough on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper and bake around 25 minutes at 375 degrees.  The edges should turn nice and golden brown.
