Midwinter Herbal Tea Blend
It also looks pretty in the cup (a bright pink) and in the jar. It would make a festive gift with its bright red and green colors showing through a glass jar or cellophane bag tied with a cheery ribbon.
Ingredients
Servings: Makes about 20 servings
1 ½ ounces (by weight) dried hibiscus flowers
3 Tablespoons chopped fresh Grand fir needles
1 Tablespoon coarsely chopped cinnamon stick
Peel of 1 orange, shredded
Directions
You may need to put the hibiscus and cinnamon in a bag and pound them with a hammer to “chop” them. Put all ingredients into a paper lunch bag. Leave the top open and shake it a few times a day for several days so that the tea is almost dry when you put it into a jar. The recipe can be multiplied, but dry the larger quantity in several bags or spread it out on parchment out of the sun.
